From a company communication:
"In October 2008, the company launched Grand Ideas, a new cost efficiency initiative and incentive scheme to employees. Employees were asked to submit original cost saving ideas which, if implemented, would deliver a saving of more than £5000 to the business before the end of December 2009. For each idea that was implemented, the employee was awarded £100. If an idea was judged to be “Idea of the Month”, the employee was awarded £1000.
...
The winning Grand Idea is to bring the creative process for the production of printed literature (price lists, technical specification inserts) in-house saving time and a substantial amount of money.
As well as delivering real savings immediately, the winning idea also has the potential to save an additional £200,000 and a study is underway to scope this further."
Let's summarize: move a task to in-house and save £200,000 !
